IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Alert for Several States, Heatwave Conditions Likely to Persist in Some Regions
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several states as the southwest monsoon continues to gain momentum across the country. According to the weather department, states including Maharashtra, Bihar, Odisha, and Assam are likely to experience intense rainfall over the next few days.
Officials have warned that heavy showers could lead to waterlogging in low-lying areas, traffic disruptions, and localized flooding in some regions. Local administrations have been advised to remain vigilant and take necessary precautionary measures to deal with any weather-related emergencies.
While many parts of the country are expected to receive much-needed rainfall, heatwave conditions may continue in portions of eastern Uttar Pradesh and the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra. Temperatures in these areas are expected to remain above normal, prompting authorities to urge residents to take precautions against extreme heat.
Meteorologists say the active monsoon phase is beneficial for agriculture and is expected to support crop sowing activities across several states. However, people living in areas under heavy rainfall alerts have been advised to stay updated with weather forecasts and follow official safety advisories.
The IMD continues to closely monitor weather patterns and has urged citizens to exercise caution, especially in regions vulnerable to flooding and other weather-related disruptions.
