Punjab Launches Special Intensive Revision of Electoral Rolls; Door-to-Door Voter Verification Begins

The Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls has officially begun across Punjab, marking a major exercise aimed at ensuring the accuracy and transparency of voter records ahead of future elections. As part of the drive, election officials and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) will conduct door-to-door verification of voters throughout the state.

The revision process is designed to identify and remove duplicate, shifted, deceased, or ineligible voters from the electoral rolls while ensuring that all eligible citizens are properly registered. Officials will verify voter details, including names, addresses, and other essential information, during their visits.

The Election Commission has urged residents to cooperate with verification teams and provide accurate information when contacted. Citizens are also encouraged to check their voter details and submit any necessary corrections or updates within the stipulated period.

Authorities have stated that the exercise is a routine but crucial step in maintaining clean and updated electoral rolls, which form the foundation of free and fair elections. Special attention will be given to newly eligible voters, including young citizens who have recently attained the voting age.
