Punjab Police have intensified their war against drugs, achieving a major breakthrough by seizing nearly 467 kilograms of heroin during anti-narcotics operations conducted across the state in the first six months of 2026.
According to official figures, the large-scale crackdown was carried out as part of a sustained campaign aimed at dismantling drug trafficking networks and curbing the flow of narcotics into Punjab. The operations were conducted in multiple districts, leading to the arrest of several alleged drug smugglers and the recovery of significant quantities of contraband.
Police officials stated that special teams have been working round the clock to identify and apprehend individuals involved in cross-border smuggling, organized drug syndicates, and local distribution networks. Along with heroin, authorities also recovered illegal weapons, cash, and other materials linked to criminal activities.
Senior officers described the seizures as a major success in the state’s ongoing efforts to combat the drug menace. They emphasized that strict action will continue against those involved in narcotics trafficking, regardless of their influence or connections.
The Punjab Police have reiterated their commitment to making the state drug-free and urged citizens to cooperate by sharing information about suspicious activities. Officials believe that public participation, combined with sustained enforcement action, is crucial to breaking the supply chain of illegal drugs and protecting the youth from substance abuse.
