Texas Neighbourhood Under Lockdown After 24 Million Honeybees Escape From Overturned Truck

A neighbourhood in Orange County, Texas, was placed under lockdown after an 18-wheeler truck carrying approximately 24 million honeybees overturned, releasing massive swarms into the surrounding area. Authorities urged residents to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed as emergency crews and beekeepers worked to contain the situation.

According to reports, the truck was transporting more than 400 beehives when it overturned following a traffic incident. The crash damaged the hives, allowing millions of agitated bees to escape and spread across the area. Emergency responders wearing protective suits joined local beekeepers in efforts to recover the hives and safely relocate the bees.

Officials said the lockdown was imposed as a precautionary measure to protect residents from potential bee attacks and stings. While no major injuries were immediately reported, authorities warned that only a fraction of the displaced colonies may survive the incident.
