Pakistan Conducts Cross-Border Strikes in Afghanistan; Casualties Reported on Both Sides

Tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan have escalated after Pakistani forces launched cross-border military strikes targeting suspected militant positions inside eastern Afghanistan. Pakistani authorities said the operation was aimed at eliminating members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), whom they blame for carrying out recent attacks within Pakistan.

According to Pakistan’s military, the operation resulted in the deaths of 29 suspected militants and was carried out following a series of security incidents, including an attack on the Rangers’ headquarters in Karachi.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s Taliban-led administration has strongly criticized the strikes, alleging that several residential areas were hit during the operation. Afghan officials claimed that at least 36 civilians, including women and children, lost their lives, while more than 160 others sustained injuries.

The latest military action has further strained relations between the two neighboring countries. Pakistan continues to accuse armed groups of operating from Afghan territory, while the Taliban government denies providing safe haven to militants and has condemned the strikes as a breach of Afghanistan’s sovereignty.

Officials on both sides remain on high alert as concerns grow over the possibility of further cross-border tensions in the region.
