Chairman Tejinder Mehta Visits Polo Ground DSO Brings Key Issues to Chairman’s Notice
Patiala: Aam Aadmi Party District President and Chairman of the District Planning Committee, Patiala, Tejinder Mehta, visited the Polo Ground in Patiala on Wednesday morning to review the sports facilities, training arrangements and infrastructure available for athletes. During the visit, he inspected the training sessions for fencing, boxing, judo, badminton, athletics and other sports. He also interacted with coaches and players from different disciplines and obtained their feedback regarding training and sports facilities.
During the visit, District Sports Officer (DSO) Navjot Dhaliwal brought various issues and requirements related to the Polo Ground to Chairman Mehta’s notice. Chairman Mehta assured that every possible effort would be made, in coordination with the concerned departments, to ensure the early resolution of the genuine issues raised by the players and the Sports Department. He further said that wherever required, efforts would also be made to provide funds through the District Planning Committee so that better sports facilities could be made available to the players.
Chairman Mehta said that under the leadership of Hon’ble Chief Minister Sardar Bhagwant Singh Mann, the Punjab Government is working with firm commitment to promote sports and keep the youth away from drug abuse. He said that when young people engage in sports, their energy is channelled in a positive direction and they play an important role in building a healthy and drug-free society. With this vision, the Punjab Government is continuously making efforts to strengthen sports infrastructure, provide modern facilities to athletes and further promote sports culture from villages to cities.
Chairman Mehta said that Patiala enjoys a distinguished identity as the land of sports in India and across the world. Strengthening this legacy is a shared responsibility of all of us. He said that the main objective of the visit was to directly interact with players and coaches, understand the issues being faced at the grassroots level and ensure their timely resolution. He assured that every genuine demand related to sports would be taken up with the Government on priority and that every possible support would be extended for the further development of sports facilities.
On this occasion, District Sports Officer (DSO) Navjot Dhaliwal, Fencing Coach Arjan Kumar, Basketball Coach Gurmeet Singh, Raj Kumar Rao and other officials of the Sports Department were also present.
