New Weekly Tanakpur–Sri Nanded Sahib Express Flagged Off, Direct Rail Link Boosts Pilgrimage for Devotees
Tanakpur, Uttarakhand: A new chapter in rail connectivity and religious tourism began today as the weekly Tanakpur–Sri Nanded Sahib Express was officially flagged off from Tanakpur in Uttarakhand. The newly introduced train service is expected to make travel significantly easier for devotees visiting Sachkhand Sri Hazur Sahib in Nanded, one of Sikhism’s most revered pilgrimage sites.
The launch of this direct train service is aimed at strengthening the spiritual connection of the Nanak Naam Leva Sangat living in the Terai region with Sri Hazur Sahib. Pilgrims who previously relied on multiple train changes or lengthy road journeys will now have a more convenient and comfortable travel option.
According to the schedule, Train No. 17632 will depart from Tanakpur every Tuesday at 9:00 AM and reach Sri Nanded Sahib on Wednesday at 4:30 PM. The service is expected to benefit thousands of devotees each year while also improving connectivity between northern and central India.
The inaugural ceremony witnessed the presence of public representatives, railway officials, local leaders, police personnel, and members of the Sikh community, who gathered to celebrate the launch of the new service. The locomotive was decorated with flowers, marking the occasion as a significant milestone for the region.
The introduction of the Tanakpur–Sri Nanded Sahib Express is expected to encourage religious tourism, promote regional connectivity, and provide a seamless travel experience for passengers undertaking the sacred pilgrimage to one of Sikhism’s most important spiritual destinations.
