PSFC Member Jasvir Singh Sekhon Chairs Meeting with Depot Holders, Truck and Labour Unions

Punjab State Food Commission (PSFC) Member Jasvir Singh Sekhon today chaired a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister Facilitation Centre, Dhuri, with officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, depot holders, and representatives of the truck and labour unions to review the mechanism for the timely and transparent distribution of food grains under the Public Distribution System (PDS).
Addressing the meeting, Sekhon reiterated that the Punjab Government, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is firmly committed to ensuring that every eligible beneficiary receives quality food grains on time. He emphasized that maintaining the quality of food grains is of paramount importance and made it clear that any negligence or compromise in this regard would invite strict action.
He urged depot holders, truck operators and labour unions to work in close coordination with the Food and Civil Supplies Department so that food grains reach beneficiaries without delay. Stressing the need for operational efficiency, he directed labour union representatives to ensure that workers report at the designated warehouses on time to facilitate the smooth loading, transportation and distribution of food grains.
Highlighting the importance of transparency, Sekhon said that the entire weighment process would be carried out in a fair and transparent manner. He informed that depot holders would be issued only the officially generated weighment slips, and that handwritten slips would not be accepted under any circumstances.
The Commission Member also encouraged depot holders, union representatives and members of the public to submit any complaints related to the Public Distribution System in writing to the Punjab State Food Commission. He assured that every genuine grievance would be examined promptly and resolved in a fair and time-bound manner.
Among those present were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Development) Sukhchain Singh, Chief Minister Field Officer Arvind Kumar, District Food and Civil Supplies Controller (DFSC) Gurpreet Singh Kang, other officials of the Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department, depot holders, and representatives of the truck and labour unions.
