PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur trains anganwadi workers on nutritious recipes and creative activities for preschool children
PAU-Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Sangrur under the aegis of Punjab Agricultural University and ICAR-ATARI, Zone-I, Ludhiana, conducted a one-day in-service training course for the anganwadi workers on Nutritious recipes and creative activities for preschool children in which 25 anganwadi workers from different blocks of Sangrur participated. The training course was organized under the able guidance of Dr. Mandeep Singh, Incharge, KVK, Sangrur.
Dr. Vitasta Dhawan, Assistant Professor (Home Science) highlighted the importance of balanced nutrition during the formative years of a child’s life. She explained that adequate and nutritious food during early childhood is essential for proper physical growth, cognitive development, immunity building, and overall well-being.
Further, she demonstrated various engaging activities designed to enhance fine motor skills, hand-eye coordination, creativity, problem-solving abilities, and cognitive development.
To promote healthy eating practices among children, participants were introduced to several simple, nutritious, and cost-effective recipes that can be easily prepared using locally available ingredients.
The session witnessed active participation from the attendees, who showed keen interest in learning practical approaches to child nutrition and early childhood development.
To further support the participants, PAU literature was distributed, ensuring they have access to reliable information on child nutrition.
