12 Challans Issued, Rs. 2,100 Fine Imposed Under Tobacco Control Drive in Patiala

The Civil Surgeon Office, Patiala conducted a special enforcement drive under the National Tobacco Control Programme. The campaign was carried out under the leadership of District Programme Officer Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa.

During the drive, the team conducted inspections at Sirhindi Gate, New Bus Stand, Urban Estate Phase-1, Punjabi University, Sirhind Bypass, DCW, Railway Station and Old Bus Stand, Patiala.

Dr. Inderpreet Randhawa said that during the inspections, a total of 12 challans were issued for violations of the Tobacco Control Act, and a total fine of Rs. 2,100 was collected. The department made it clear that strict action against those violating the rules related to the sale and use of tobacco products will continue in the future as well.

Health officials appealed to the public to stay away from tobacco and other addictive substances. They said that such government initiatives are crucial for improving public health and creating greater awareness among citizens.

Dr. Randhawa further stated that similar enforcement drives will continue in the coming days to ensure a tobacco-free society.

Officials from the Civil Surgeon Office, Anil Guru and Khushbeer, were also present during the campaign.
