Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Briefly Detained During Protest in New Delhi
Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were briefly detained by Delhi Police during a protest held near the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi. The demonstration was organized as part of the Opposition’s campaign over issues related to the ongoing NEET examination controversy.
According to reports, police intervened after protesters attempted to march towards a restricted area. Security personnel stopped the procession, and several leaders and party workers were taken into preventive custody before being released later.
The Congress alleged that the action was intended to suppress democratic protest and demanded greater accountability from the government over the concerns raised by students. Party leaders reiterated their call for reforms to ensure transparency and fairness in the country’s competitive examination system.
Meanwhile, the government maintained that security arrangements and movement restrictions were implemented in accordance with established law-and-order protocols in the high-security zone around the Prime Minister’s residence.
The protest has added to the ongoing political debate over the NEET issue, with both the government and the Opposition continuing to exchange views inside and outside Parliament.
