Opposition Daydreaming About Returning to Power: Minister Barinder Goyal
On the occasion, Gurmeet Singh Khai, Vishwakarma Mandir Committee President Thikra Singh, Chairman Jaspal Singh, former President Gurdeep Singh Bambrao, Gurdarshan Singh, Leela Singh, Satta Singh (Battery Wala), Guddu Singh, Jinder Singh Khai, Gurcharan Singh, and several others who joined the AAP said that they had decided to associate themselves with the party after considering its commitment to development, employment generation, quality education, healthcare, and the fight against corruption in Punjab.
They said that the scale of development works carried out by Minister Barinder Goyal in the Lehra constituency had not been witnessed during the previous 70 years under earlier governments. They assured the Minister that they would actively work to take the party’s policies and programmes to every household.
Welcoming Gurmeet Singh Khai, his family, and supporters into the party, Minister Barinder Goyal said that the youth are the backbone of every political party, and the growing support for the Aam Aadmi Party among young people reflects their desire to contribute to Punjab’s development and progress. He expressed confidence that many more people would join the party in the coming days.
Highlighting the achievements of the Punjab Government, the Minister said that lakhs of domestic consumers are receiving up to 300 units of free electricity every month. He added that the network of Aam Aadmi Clinics has been expanded, with several healthcare services being provided free of cost. The government has also launched a scheme offering free medical treatment worth up to ₹10 lakh per family.
He further said that around 70,000 government jobs had been provided to unemployed youth, while additional employment opportunities had also been created. Crores of rupees had been spent on underground pipeline projects to ensure canal water reaches every agricultural field. Under the Chief Minister Mothers-Daughters Honour Scheme, direct financial assistance had been transferred to the bank accounts of nearly 70 lakh women.
Expressing confidence in the party’s electoral prospects, Minister Goyal said that, just as in 2022, the Aam Aadmi Party would witness another massive wave of public support in the 2027 Assembly elections, sweeping the opposition aside. He remarked that the opposition parties were merely “daydreaming” about returning to power.
Among those present on the occasion were Darwara Singh Happy, Tehla Singh, Sports Constituency Lehra Chairman Simran Singh, Ajay Kumar Tholi, Makkhan Mistry, OSD Rakesh Kumar Gupta, besides a large number of party leaders and volunteers.
