The Supreme Court has ruled that the Bar Council of India does not have disciplinary authority over law students. The court said disciplinary matters involving students should generally be dealt with by the educational institutions under their applicable rules.

The ruling clarifies the distinction between the regulatory powers of the Bar Council and the internal disciplinary responsibilities of law colleges and universities.
